The Minnesota Department of Health released its latest annual report measuring treated prevalence of and health care spending directly attributable to a selected group of chronic conditions. The report improves understanding of patterns in the prevalence and treatment of various chronic diseases which together are leading causes of death and disability and major contributors to health care spending.
The report provides estimates of prevalence and attributable spending, as well as projections for future attributable spending for diabetes, hypertension, dementia, obesity, smoking, and for all chronic conditions among Minnesotans ages 60 and older.
This study analyzes several data sources, including the Minnesota All Payer Claims Database (MN APCD).
