The WA-APCD was established in 2014 when the Washington State Legislature passed legislation directing the Office of Financial Management (OFM) to establish and create the database. In 2019, management of those efforts moved from OFM to the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA), Washington's Medicaid program.
The Center for Health Systems Effectiveness (CHSE) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) was the WA-APCD Lead Organization responsible for the implementation and operation of the WA-APCD from 2014 until 2019 when the Washington Health Alliance won a bid to become the next Lead Organization. The Washington Health Alliance has also run a voluntary APCD effort in Washington since the early 2000s.
Onpoint Health Data is the contracted data vendor for the WA-APCD as of 2020.
The 2016 Legislature passed HB1175 to increase price transparency in Florida. Legislation was signed by the governor on April 14, 2016 and went into effect on July 1, 2016.
SB 482 established the GA All-Payer Claims Database.
New Mexico has allotted money in its 2019-2020 budget for an APCD.
