As of 2013, the Alaska Health Care Commission has been investigating the development of an APCD for the State of Alaska. In 2020, the Alaska Healthcare Transformation Project released a report about the feasibility of an APCD for Alaska.

In 2021, HB 113 was introduced; it relates to the establishment of an all-payer health claims database. SB 93 was also introduced in 2021 and is the companion bill of HB 113.
