In February 2018, The Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) reported on quality of care in different counties in Colorado. They compare the trends in utilization for insurance claims for chronic conditions and preventive screenings in both rural and urban counties using Colorado All-Payer Claims Database (APCD) data from 2012-2015. They found that rural counties reported lower preventive services utilization across all payers (commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid) compared to urban counties of Colorado. By understanding the quality of care in each region, Colorado is able to target and address health disparities in the state.
