The Arkansas Center for Health Improvement analyzed chronic conditions in Medicare beneficiaries within the 75 Arkansas counties. Using data from the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse and the AR APCD, this study compares nine common chronic illnesses that an Arkansas beneficiary might face, between the 75 Arkansas counties and the nation as a whole. By observing how different Arkansas counties compare to each other and the rest of the United States, the report aims to inspire researchers and policy makers to look at the areas that have high rates of chronic illness and Medicare costs, and provide outreach and education to those affected.
