Background: The purpose of the project is to analyze loss experience for the 2014 geographic rating areas, and determine if revised geographic rating areas should be used in 2015.
Goal: Study the geographic rating areas used to price health insurance policies in the state.
Data Analyzed: 2009-2013 historic file of Commercial, claims data
Results: DOI revised the geographic rating areas for 2014. The number of rating areas in the state was reduced from 11 to 9. In addition, DOI can use the data and analysis from this study as the building block for future monitoring of the Colorado health care system.
